About Josh Being Josh

The best thing about the internet is any hack can have a voice. I’m a hack with a Mac.

Sometimes random thoughts bubble up and they just have to be put down on paper screen.  Life is much too short not to muse about it, to capture the memories with anecdote and satire.

Briefly, I’m Josh.  I’ve got a wife, Lisa, and a beautiful baby, Ava Marie.  ”Ava Marie” might or might not be an anagram for “Ave Maria”, what with Lisa being a good Catholic and all.  I’m a social worker in Houston. I’m 31, which is weird.  It’s the next box on most demographic surveys.  I’m also a dude, so you can expect to read about things like:

  • Pop culture
  • Fatherhood
  • Video games (the cool and the nerdy ones)
  • Working out, which I try to do twice monthly
  • Sport Punning (punning as a competitive sport)
  • Collecting hobbies
  • Spamming other blogs to get my numbers up
  • That last one really shouldn’t be crossed out, truth be told
  • Book/movie reviews
  • Promoting products or services that I like and would like to get for free, which will never happen
  • Hating on national figures like ESPN or New York Times writers
  • Microfinance and why it can change the world
  • Random internet stuff (probably 75% of the posts)

The blog name comes from Manny Ramirez, one of the 10 best natural hitters of all times and probably the craziest guy in baseball since Babe Ruth tried to throw his manager off of a moving train.  Every time Manny does something random and crazy, people say “that’s just Manny Being Manny“.  We should all aspire to Manny’s example, except for the steroids and stuff.

You’re bored reading this.  Here is a picture of the fam.  Drop me a note on Facebook or Twitter to tell me how cute Ava is. DO IT.
